Happiness is fleeting and depends upon temporal factors and other people because it often depends on things outside of ourselves. Joy on the other hand is everlasting and is dependent upon God and what He has promised for eternity. True joy comes from the inside because it is based on our relationship with Jesus Christ and the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit.

Joy has the power to transform our lives. We must learn to fight for our joy because our joy is where our strength is found (Nehemiah 8:10). Learn to be intentional about celebrating the small moments and gifts that God has surrounded us with.

What will your joy allow you to endure? The joy of the Lord may be inexplicable to those who don’t possess it. But for the believer in Christ, the joy of the Lord is truly our strength. And as we abide in Christ, the True Vine, we will be filled with His strength and vitality, and we will produce the fruit of the His Spirit, including joy, by the grace of God.
